Polestar car subscription deals

Polestar builds Swedish electric cars with a minimalist streak — clean design, Google built into the dashboard, and a genuine sustainability record rather than a marketing one. Drive Subscribe stocks three models on short-term subscription: the Polestar 2 fastback, the Polestar 3 SUV and the Polestar 4 coupé SUV.

Terms run from one month, three, six or nine months, up to twelve, with road tax and servicing included and free delivery to your door.

Short version: the 2 if you mostly commute and park in town, the 3 if you need space and seats, the 4 if you want the range and presence of an SUV in a sleeker shape.

The Polestar 4

The newest car in the range, and the one that’s hardest to categorise — Polestar calls it an SUV coupé, sitting between the 2 and the 3 on size while looking quite unlike either. Single-motor versions prioritise range; dual-motor versions trade some of it for considerably more performance. Since the models on offer change regularly, the figures for what’s available now are on the stock page.

It’s the pick if you want SUV height and long range but find the 3 more car than you need — and it’s the one model where a short term earns its keep twice over, because the camera-based rear view divides people and can’t be judged from a test drive. Our Polestar 4 guide goes into that properly. Everything is supplied from stock, which is why delivery runs to 10–14 days rather than same-day, so see what’s on the fleet before settling on a specification.

About Polestar

Polestar began as Volvo’s high-performance division and became a standalone brand in 2017, through a joint venture between Volvo Car Group and its parent company Geely. It competes at the premium end of the electric market, where Tesla has traditionally dominated. The range now spans the 2 fastback, the 3 SUV and the 4 coupé SUV, all available on subscription from one month.

The design language is minimalist and the technology is unusually well integrated — Android Automotive runs natively in the car, so Google Maps and Assistant work without tethering a phone. Sustainability is central rather than decorative: recycled plastics and natural fibres in the interiors, low-impact exterior finishes, environmental standards imposed on suppliers, and published CO2 footprints for each model. The company has committed to producing a genuinely climate-neutral car by 2030.

Why subscribe rather than buy

Electric cars are the segment where technology dates fastest. Battery chemistry, charging speeds and onboard software all move quickly, and buying means holding that depreciation yourself. A subscription puts you in a new car for a fixed monthly payment with servicing, road tax and breakdown cover included, nothing to sell at the end, and no exposure to what the car is worth in three years.

It’s also the practical way to test whether electric works for you — whether the range suits your routes and whether you can charge where you park. Our guide to the benefits of an electric car subscription covers that in more detail, and we run electric vans on the same terms.

Pricing and VAT

Prices are shown excluding VAT, as most of our business customers reclaim it. The inc-VAT figure is shown alongside, so sole traders and private individuals who can’t reclaim can see what they’ll actually pay.

Two things worth understanding before you commit. Where a leased car is available for private use, VAT recovery on the hire charges is generally restricted to 50%. Maintenance itemised separately on the invoice usually allows 100% recovery, so ask for it to be broken out. Vans are treated differently again and generally allow full recovery on business use.

Our guide to VAT on lease cars sets out how it works in more detail.

This is general guidance rather than tax advice. Your position depends on how the vehicle is used, so check with your accountant before signing.
